Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At age 27 he began his studies at the National Theatre School of Denmark and was graduated in the year 1995. Alongside his part in the drama show telecast worldwide under the name The Killing, he subsequently participated in two other internationally popular Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He played the role of Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer in an episode on BBC Drama Sherlock. He was the president of Russia in House of Cards, an American TV show. In 2018, he won an International Emmy Award for his role as the president of Russia in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was broadcast in the UK in 2019. According to Mikkelsen's account that he learned English from his brother through listening to Monty Python recordings and watching the sketches of comedy.
